I had a couple of days off ill last week, had a bit of a cold which sneaked up on me. It all started on Friday 28th when I went out with the team and stayed out until the very early hours of Saturday morning, I think it was light when I walked home. Anyway I was very much worse for wear and I went straight to bed like a good little boy.
When I woke up again it was about 5pm, and I felt jolly rotten. It wasn't until I had consumed a steak with some chips and wolfed down a Kahlua and milk that I started to feel vaguely alright. I went to bed after watching Stargate which was broadcast on BBC1 after MOTD, I found this film to be alright, quite alright.
On Sunday I'm not sure what I did now, I did get up quite early though I remember that much. I think I just dossed about and watched football, yeah that's it.
So, come Monday I was feeling like I was coming down with something resembling a common cold. On the way to work I popped into the Co-Op and picked up some LemSip Max strength sachets and throughout the day I drank 5 of these, despite the fact the packet says the max you can have is 4. The thing is the sticker on the van says there are no tools left in the van over night; but there are, there are tools left in the van overnight. They'll never know. On Tuesday there was no way I could go to work so I rang in ill. As I did on Wednesday; I returned to work on Thursday.
Here is a little list I've made of some of the things I did when I was ill:
Watched Wildlife Specials on the following animals: Wolf, Gorilla & Polar Bear.
Watched the following films: Pathology, Start Wars IV & Rush Hour 3.
Made a toad in the hole and did so by completely guessing the ingredients.
Watched 15 episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm. This encompassed the entire of season 5 and half of season 6.
Went to Morrisons and bought some LemSips and also some jelly and chocolate.
I also got into The Dog Whisperer on Nat Geo Wild, just a little bit.
This brings me nicely up to this weekend just passed. On Friday I completed my Curb Your enthusiasm binge by completing my viewing of season 6 whilst enjoying a slight tipple of Ouzo over ice with Nestle Munchies. On Saturday I got up and had a good exercise session whilst watching The Wire season 2, I only have one episode to go now, very exciting. Then I went out and I was very honest indeed.
What happened was I went to the local shop, goes by the name Davey’s, down the road to buy some beer and sweets. My total bill at the till was £11.68 and I put my card in the card reader thing to discover the silly man had only put in £1.68. I gave the contraption back to the man and told him he'd made a mistake. "An honest man" he said to me. "Well, you have to support local business" I replied, "especially these days". Being called an honest man gave me a warm feeling inside and this was well worth the £10 that I would have saved had I been a rip off merchant.
I went home and opened up a beer and had a good game on Mario Strikers on the Wii whilst listening to LBC on my dab radio. I was just pleased I had been such an honest citizen. I was proud as punch.
Later on in the evening we went out for a Christmas meal down at the Red Lion in Betchworth, it was just a Christmas meal with friends. That was all it was. Afterwards we went to The Flying Scud. I had a really bad hangover on Sunday morning and was then practically forced at knife point to go to a place I like to refer to as a hell hole, see posting below.
Finally, last night I watched a film called "Nightmare City 2035". As you can probably guess from the title of this film, it was terrible.
