When I get paid on Friday I'm getting a little bonus. This bonus is 1.25% of annual salary, so I have estimated I'll be receiving around the £230 mark after tax on Friday. The majority of this will be spent on my car. You see I've been driving around without an MOT or insurance since the 17th July. I have two smashed wing mirrors, a hole in the exhaust, no spare tyre and the brakes need checking. I have taken Tuesday off work in order to facilitate this undertaking. First I will go to National Tyres & Auto Care and get the tyres & exhaust mended, I will also be requesting this lot to carry out a brake check. I will then get the MOT done, I haven't decided yet whether to go to a MOT while you wait place or book one at that garage opposite the Marquis of Grandad. I'll probably book one and pre warn then about the smashed wing mirrors so they can buy some in if needs must.
On Sunday or Monday I will clean my car, inside and out. I always do this preceding a garage visit as I believe when the mechanics see how much I take care of my car they will be less likely to fleece me. It is the logical thing to do.
Once I have this MOT complete I will purchase the insurance. I found a place that'll do a fully comp number on me for £147, normally I'd pay incrementally throughout the year but I'll shell out for the lot this time round, since I've been partially funded by this bonus (this time around). I have put a provision of £400 aside to fund this, I hope it is enough. My thinking for this is as follows: £150 at National Tyres & Auto Care, £100 for the MOT & £147 for the insurance. Any more than this I will be a bit upset but it won't break the bank.
My only other expense this month that I know for sure so far is a small provision for a bottle of Stoli Vodka and a nice bottle of Scotch Malt. I've been thinking about getting a bottle of this:
Primarily because it is 60% proof. However I am also drawn to this bottle of whisky due this rather specious description of the fair whisky:
"Glenfarclas 105 Speyside malt is a bronzey, gold colour. The nose is robust with notes of butterscotch and raisins. On the palate it is very sweet with nectar overtones and some honey dryness. The finish is long and warm."
I like butterscotchy whisky, and the finish sounds like such a treat. Sod it, I'm getting this. I will do a post about how I get on with it. It's £40 from here if you take the delivery into consideration.
