Yesterday I paid a visit to Richer Sounds with Ian Dulley. The purpose of the visit was to purchase some speaker cable as I had rearranged my spare room the night previous. What I had done was relatively simple. I had placed the speakers over the other side of the room to the speakers and the speaker cable did not reach to a sufficient degree of satisfaction. Indeed I had produced a temporary workaround by way of a veritable fusion of excess speaker cable (spable) that I had dug out from the loft. You see I have quite a collection of different cables and wires that I have amassed over the years and I store this cable in boxes and tie bags up in the loft. I like to keep them out of the way as they are unsightly and I rarely require access to such a stockpile collection of cord.

So I elevated myself into the loft and gathered the appropriate spable. I then set about splicing the spable I had together so that I had enough length to attach speakers to amplifier. I was not happy and found the workaround to be somewhat abject, and decided that I would remedy the situation by going to Richer Sounds. I'd told myself to acquire some new and better spable that I personally found adequate in the extreme. It's just a process that took place within me, simple as that really.

The other issue that had discontented me regarding the rearrangement of the room was that spable was now running over the carpet around the edge of the room. Adding to this rather messy vista was the presence of ethernet cable that runs from the living room downstairs to the computer in this very room. The ethernet cable (etherable) was running along the same edge of the room and this clumping of running cable was creating such a disgusting sight, I can't tell you how annoyed I was. It was then that I decided to become a proactive humanoid and do something about the whole ugly muddle.

At work the next day I sought the advice of my colleagues; two people came back to me with the same option. Monty Christo and Ian Dulley both suggested the best line of attack would be to tuck the cables up under the carpet, a solution that I took on board and decided to attempt. Ian Dulley informed that I would be able to take the carpet up using a screw driver, simple and effective. This is what I would do, I would Jimmy up the carpet from the skirting with the screwdriver, tuck the cable under and then stomp the carpet back down under the skirting using a hammer and my feet.

Come luncheon I set off with Ian Dulley with the express purpose of purchasing spable. First we went back to my house to scope out the project; all I wanted was for Ian to evaluate the process I had proposed in the actual environment undergoing the change request. He approved of what needed to be done and we left my place and drove on four wheels to Richer. Once in I spoke to one of their operatives, a baldy called Rob. He asked if my amplifier had A and B channels, I said it had left and right. Well, apparently they all have left and right. Ian had to step in to inform Rob that my amplifier did not have A and B channels. Rob had belittled me, the sneaky blighter.

In the end I opted for 14 meters of flattened speaker cable at £1.49 per meter. It was a good looking cable and I was very pleased, so much so that I took my bag of spable into the office and declared my intent to all that surrounded me. My team leader bought her whole home cinema system from Richer Sounds. You live and learn. I couldn't wait to get home and get cracking on the new set up, the interim period from 1.30pm to 5.30pm was agonizingly slow due to my chomping at the bit attitude.

When I got in I was up in the spare room taking up carpet like a fucking rat up a drain pipe. I took my tool box and spable and set up shop. I started by removing all concurrent spable and removing it from my line of sight. I then pulled out the desk to make room for the impending pulling up of carpet. It took me a while and the carpet isn't back down as neat and tidy as it was before but I am very happy with the new look. It's so much better when cables are tucked up under carpet. The etherable has also be dealt with in a sever manner. It has been run down the wall to the living room and tucked up like a good little sod to the locality of the modem. I finished this task just before 8pm. During this time I also vacuumed up the carpet dust that had occurred from the process, of which there was plenty.

Last night I went to bed at 10.20pm and watched a film called 'Hitman', it was alright. I was asleep before mid night, that is all.
